Lip Care Tips For Sweet Kisses

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and one of the things on many women’s minds is looking and feeling beautiful and kissable. Winter weather and the dryness of heated air can wreak havoc on our lips, leaving them cracked and chapped. While we want them to look great, we also want them to feel great to anyone who might be planning on or inspired to give us a romantic kiss. There are quite a few things you can do to make your pout soft and beautiful before the big day.

Lip skin has the same care and maintenance needs as the skin on the rest of your face. Two of the biggies are exfoliating and moisturizing. Fortunately, you can see a huge difference in the appearance and texture of your lips in a very short time, no matter what shape they’re in right now.

Exfoliating your lips doesn’t require any special products at all. One of the best ways to exfoliate your lips and get them smooth quickly is to use baking soda, which almost everyone has on hand already. This is easy to do right before or after you brush your teeth. Just put a small amount of baking soda on a wet, very soft toothbrush, and gently brush your lips in a circular pattern. Gentle brushes are all it will take, so use a light hand. In just a couple of days, you’ll see great results.

Moisturizing your lips in winter requires a bit more than just wearing lipstick. In fact, many lipsticks are actually quite drying. You’re better off with a lip stain or lip pencil on the entire lip, topped with a thin coat of lip balm. If your lips are very dry, apply lip balm throughout your day. It’s very important to wear balm to bed, as well, as the heated air in our bedrooms often leaves us with very dry lips in the morning. Another great moisturizer is plain olive oil, which you can dab on just before bed. Hey, it works for Sophia Loren!
